Weatherbys

Jane from Weatherbys holding the Talent PledgeWeatherbys are a prominent employer based in Wellingborough that has a keen interest in supporting young people from the local community.

They met Talent Match at an event and were instantly on board. Recognising that it is difficult for young people to find employment, particularly without having prior experience, they wanted to offer a 4 week work placement.

This opportunity was taken up by Ceidleigh, a young person that had been on the Talent Match project for a few months and wanted to gain some admin experience with an employer.

After completing the placement, Weatherbys expressed how well Ceidleigh performed and had these comments to make:

“Weatherbys work with Talent Match as a result of their enthusiasm and commitment towards helping young people gain valuable work experience opportunities within industry.  We have found their service to be professional and efficient.

It is a hugely supportive of this initiative.  It ties in with Weatherbys Corporate Social Responsibilities in the local area and are keen to provide a proactive approach to supporting Talent Match by offering work experience opportunities; work taster days and mock interviews.

Weatherbys recognizes within the local community there are a large number of unemployed young people and by offering opportunities for them to gain experience within a workplace, will help them learn what an organisation such as Weatherbys can provide, by way of career development and advancement.

Ceidleigh attended a four week placement between May and June of 2015.  During this period she joined a small team in a specialized area of the organisation.

She quickly built respect with her colleagues and peers by being a clear communicator, willingness to absorb herself into the task at hand and learn what was necessary in order to achieve what had been asked of her.

Ceidleigh updated the departments bespoke computer system with data and spreadsheets with relevant information, with ease.

The management team were very impressed with her attitude and professionalism.  Had they the opportunity to make the role she undertook permanent, they would have had no hesitation in employing her.

By endorsing the activities of Talent Match, Weatherbys believe they will help young people to develop the skills required for the workplace, to help secure a role in the future.  Weatherbys recognize the importance of nurturing talent and providing development opportunities, for those that want to progress and enhance their potential for future growth.”
