On Friday 18th September 2015 we had an away day at the Nene White Water Rafting Centre in Northampton.
12 beneficiaries attended and even those with severe anxiety issues took part in the rafting and climbing activities. The event was co-ordinated and put together by Talent Match’s Charlotte Seal. The aim was to encourage team work and raise confidence and self esteem.
The beneficiaries enjoyed the experience:
‘I feel more confident in myself and around others.’
‘I learned new skills and it was fun.’
‘I think it will help me working in my new job, taught me social skills in general.’
On Tuesday 22nd September 2015 Talent Match Northamptonshire attended Wellingborough’s Victoria Centre Annual General Meeting.
We were asked to be guest speakers in front of the Mayor.
Adel, Michael, Dan gave a presentation about Talent Match and this was followed up with a presentation from beneficiaries; Adam, Emily, Normumds and Ceidleigh. They informed guests about the good work that Talent Match does and how it has help to move them forward into positive destinations.
The young people gave their own personal experience of how the project had helped them gain confidence through one to one and group work sessions, also how the team had helped them to get interviews.
We were all entered into the prize draw, Dan won first prize and the beneficiaries all won VIP passes to a local gym.
All in all, a great night! And the chips were a bonus to stop any tummy rumbles during our presentations.
